"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" (James 1:5). Quoting from Elder Bruce R. McConkie, popular speaker Jack R. Christianson says, "A single sentence, twenty-six plain and simple words; these spirit-authored words have had an impact upon religion and all that pertains to it." He says this verse of scripture was preserved throughout the centuries so that a young Joseph Smith could be prompted to turn to God to have his questions answered. And because he asked, the world was forever changed.
The invitation to ask of God is more important now than ever. In this uplifting and inspiring talk, Brother Christianson teaches us the difference between praying and simply saying prayers. Using enlightening stories, scriptures, and quotes from the Brethren, he helps us understand how we can be more effective in our prayers. "As you search, as you pray, as you never give up," Brother Christianson promises that "you will come to know [God], and God is the one who will see you through." He hears your prayers.
